Mayor Making Concert

Congratulations to all the young performers who sang, played and danced for the celebration in the Guildhall on June 27th. Cllr Bobbie Chettleburgh, her Appeal Committee and Childrens Chance thank them all for a marvellous evening.

Concert Review....EIGHT talented young people strutted their stuff for the new mayor of Salisbury’s appeal only hours after the mayor donned her chain of office.

Three of the performers at the concert have benefited from Childrens Chance and were proud to demonstrate their skills, whether it was singing, dancing or playing.

In a carefully balanced programme, an audience of invited guests listened to singers Lucy Storm and Jamie Eldridge from E Minor Pop Academy, they watched entranced as 11-year-old Gideon Read did his street dance routine, and were captivated by young classical singer Charlotte Fleming as she sang Mozart in German, accompanied by her tutor, Lynton Atkinson.

Teenage violinists Christabel Pidduck and Charlotte Hart played short pieces by Bach, Mozart, Locatelli and Nelson, while Holly Angel and her saxophone added yet more variety to the programme.

Runa May Osman, who attended Stagecoach classes for seven years thanks to Children’s Chance, recited a poem before singing “Somewhere over the Rainbow”.

Master of ceremonies for the evening was Nigel Gibbons who created a happy atmosphere and put all the young performers at their ease.

Waitrose Community Matters

We were absolutely thrilled to be nominated for the green token Community Matters scheme for the month of March! Very many thanks to Waitrose for running the scheme and selecting this charity, and for the donation of £299. And very many thanks too to the shoppers who chose to put their tokens in the Childrens Chance slot! To have so many members of the public see the name 'Childrens Chance' is one of the biggest wishes of any small charity. Thank you!
